A memorial service will be held for David M. Stevenson at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home. David went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, surrounded by the love and support of his family.
Dean Roberson, 55, of Vealmoor died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Vealmoor Cemetery.
Charles L. Ussery Jr., died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Memorial Park Chapel.
Bobby Jones, 62, of Big Spring died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, in Midland.Â He will be in state from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Holston Banks officiating.
Dorothy Inez Maxwell Coleman, 92,Â a former resident of Big Spring, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, in Washington, Utah. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Kay Elizabeth Jackson, 59, of Big Spring died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, in an Arlington hospital. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Bennie Anderson, 70, of Coahoma died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at his residence. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Area residents hoping to spread a little Christmas cheer to U.S. military service personnel serving overseas have a little more than two weeks left to donate to Christmas For Our Troops Inc.
Debbie Burrow, local director for the drive, said local response has been good to date and that volunteers will be soliciting gifts and monetary donations through Dec. 1.
The inspiration for the drive is simple, she said â€” the desire to let troops serving in combat zones that the folks back home haven't forgotten them.
The Howard County Sheriff's Office reported the following activity (76 prisoners were reported in the county jail):
â€¢ SHIMEON RASHAD MAGERS, 27, was jailed on charges of no insurance, no seat belt, failure to maintain financial responsibility, no valid inspection sticker and two counts of failure to appear.
â€¢ STEPHEN KYLE GAY, 26, was jailed on a charge of driving while license invalid/previous conviction.
â€¢ THADDEUS RASHAD MCCALISTER, 22, was jailed on a charge of minor in possession of alcoholic beverage.
