The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. today:
• KHRISTIE LEE CHRISTIANSEN, 39, of 1505 Lincoln Apt. B, was arrested Monday on a charge of driving while license suspended/invalid – no insurance.
• ELEUTERIO TORRES PADRON, 61, of 509 N. Goliad, was arrested Monday on a charge of public intoxication.
In the 600 block of S. Bell.
In the 1000 block of N. Main Street.
• THEFT was reported:
In the 2600 block of Ent.
In the 400 block of E. Fourth Street.

Two jailed in stabbing incidents

The Big Spring Police Department is investigating a pair of stabbing incidents that occurred during the holiday weekend, sending two Big Spring men to the emergency room.

Billy Joe Mitchell, 72, of Big Spring was arrested shortly after police dispatchers were notified of an assault Friday night at the Northcrest Apartments, located at 1002 N. Main St. on the city's north side.

Everett said the second stabbing was reported Sunday in the 600 block of Caylor.

John Carroll Rutherford, 23, of 710 Douglas, was arrested Sunday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Annual Christmas parade returns to Gregg Street

What do you get when you mix Santa Claus with the good ol' red, white and blue? This year's Big Spring Herald Community Christmas Parade.

The parade, which “heralds” the start of the Christmas season in this area, will celebrate its 25th anniversary next Saturday.

The theme for the this year is “A Star Spangled Christmas,” and several floats adorned with patriotic themes are expected, organizers said.

Auditions set Dec. 11 for comedy troupe

What are you, some sort of comedian?

That's exactly the question local comedian Clay Vickers and the Goondock Saints comedy group are posing to Crossroads residents, as the troupe of funny men and women look to expand their repertoire in preparation for a January performance at a comedy club in Austin.

Vickers, a 2003 graduate of Forsan High School and affectionately known to his friends as Gooney, said comedy has been a major part of his life since he was a child, but it wasn't until several of his friends got in on the act that they decided to form their own comedy troupe.

Felix Garcia Jr., born March 20,1943, entered into eternal rest Nov. 24, 2010, at the age of 67. Visitation begins Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, located at 18755 Stone Oak Parkway, San Antonio 78258, with a prayer service to be held at 7 p.m. that same day. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Cornerstone Church with interment to follow at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Marshall Neil Crawford Jr. (Mark), passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 27, 2010, at the Lamun, Lusk, Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring. Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Tom G. Walker Funeral Home in Coleman.

Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

James “Jack” Ray, 75, of Big Spring died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating.
