Christmas alert: Grinches might want to avoid Big Spring this weekend.
From lighting ceremonies to parades to craft sales to carols to Santa Claus to Christmas trees, the holiday season gets a gigantic jump-start the next few days.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity Thursday:
â˘ VICTORIA WARREN, no age given, 1005 Stadium, was arrested on a charge of driving while driving while license suspended/invalid.
â˘ JODY KYLE ROGERS, 51, 507 Union, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
â˘ ANN MARIE RENTERIA, 39, 107 N.E. Ninth, was arrested on a warrant from another agency.
â˘ CLARENCE EDWARD YANEZ III, 34, 1804.5 Scurry, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct/language.
â˘ SANTIAGO JIMENEZ MORALEZ, 50, 614 N.E. Ninth, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
Marie Rowland Brown, 96, of Big Spring, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, in a local nursing home. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Salvador Trevino, 65, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at his residence. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.

LUBBOCK â At 10-1, not much should be bothering the Howard College menâs basketball team.
But there is one underlying problem bothering the Hawks: depth.
The Hawks have a break after their 107-46 win over Lubbock Christian Junior Varsity Thursday in Lubbock. They do not play until Dec. 31 in the Mesa Community College shootout.
Right now, however, they are down to eight players after Will Bunton was suspended this week for breaking team rules.
