MacKenzie, DePauw join BSEDC board

New faces have been added to the Big Spring Economic Development Corporation.

Jim DePauw and Scott MacKenzie were accepted as new members to the BSEDC board during Tuesday evening’s meeting.

The two will be replacing outgoing members Larry McLellan and Glenn Fillingim, secretary/treasurer of the BSEDC. McLellan has served on the board for six years and Fillingim served from 2007 until this year and previously served from 1992 to 1995.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. today:
• ROY JOHNSON, 68, of 707 Wyoming, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant from another agency.
• KRYSTAL MARIE SERVANTES, 23, of 1409 Bluebird, was arrested Tuesday on warrants for safety belts required, expired motor vehicle inspection certificate, failure to appear and two warrants from another agency.
• JASON HARVEY BEDFORD, 27, of 2513 Dow, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of public intoxication.
• ASSAULT was reported:
In the 400 block of Dallas.

Drug charges dominate grand jury indictments

A Howard County grand jury handed down more than two-dozen indictments during its Friday session in 118th District Court, many for alleged drug violations.

Among those indicted were:

• Pedro Rosendo Aguilar, 50, of 312 N.E. 10th St., possession of a controlled substance (third-degree felony, enhanced).
• Tony Bernard Anderson, 22, currently being held in the Howard County Jail, forgery (state jail felony).
• Ashley Dawn Walters, 22, currently being held in the Howard County Jail, forgery (state jail felony).

Greg Walker, 56, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, in a Lubbock hospital. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
