Lutheran Church
Worship is Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in our sanctuary at 810 Scurry. Sunday school, led by Pastor Don Rosentreter, is in the parish hall after worship.
Wednesday noon Bible study will cover “Held in High Esteem.” Bring a brown bag lunch.
We continue to collect supplies for the Candelaria Medical Mission. A complete list is available at the church.

Tea Party rally Saturday

Tea Party time at the Heart of the City Park, Saturday at 10 a.m.

Howard County conservatives have organized Saturday's tea party, but extends an invitation to all community residents. The meeting will take place across from the Howard County Courthouse.

State Rep. Jim Landtroop will be speaking as well as candidates for the Republican primary seeking the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Kay Bailey Hutchison.

BSHS, Forsan bands excel at marching contest

Some ruts are nice to be in.

As they have for the past several years, the Big Spring High School and Forsan High School marching bands turned in exemplary performances at recent University Interscholastic League regional competition, with each band earning a Division I rating, the highest possible.

Forsan's performance earned it another spot in the Class 2A area contest, which will be held Saturday in Lubbock. The top three bands there advance to the UIL state marching contest, set for November in San Antonio.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. today:
• RONALD LEE MONCADA, 47, of 2530 Hunter, was arrested Thursday on a warrant from another agency.
• DANIEL WAYNE MCKNIGHT, 34, of 1114 Mulberry, was arrested Thursday on a warrant from another agency.
• PAUL MORENO, 49, of 616 Caylor Dr., was arrested Thursday on a warrant from another agency.
• DAVID WARD SAUSMAN, 47, of 1309 Grafa, was arrested Thursday on a warrant for failure to drive in a single lane.
• CRIMINAL MISCHIEF was reported in the 2500 block of Dow.

Forsan wins district cross country title

October 28, 2011

The Forsan boys cross country team finished in first place in the district meet in Lubbock. This is the fourth consecutive district title for the Buffaloes and makes five out of the last six.

The boys had a perfect score, claiming the first five spots individually. Kyle Stevenson finished in first place overall with a time of 17:08, followed closely by second place finisher P.J. Horton with a time of 17:28.

Third place went to Tyler Evans with 17:35, while Matthew Mims took fourth place and Elgen Suazo took fifth place.
