As ghouls and goblins of all shapes and sizes get ready to take to the neighborhoods of Big Spring and Howard County to trick-or-treat Monday, local officials are urging parents and guardians to stick to general safety guidelines to keep children safe.
According to Big Spring Fire Marshal Carl Condray, safety for trick-or-treaters begins with their costumes.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday:
â€˘ JACOB MARTINEZ SEPULUEDA, 23, of 1701 Kentucky, was arrested Friday on a warrant for speeding.
â€˘ CALEB LEE HALLFORD, 18, of 10 Kenley Lane, was arrested Friday on a charge of possession of marijuana more than two ounces and less than or equal to four ounces.
â€˘ TONYA LEA SENTER, 34, of 4109 Parkway Rd., was arrested Friday on a warrant from other agency.
Victor Garza, 81, of Big Spring, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 in a local nursing home. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Clarence Donald Wilkins of Big Spring and Senia Espinosa of Sonora, Cali. Were united in marriage Oct. 8, 2011, at 6 p.m. at The Vista on Seward Hill in Austin, Texas.
The Rev. Richard Green, uncle of the groom, and the Rev. Al Rodriguez officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Maria and Daniel Espinosa of Sonora, Cali. The groom is the son of Evelyn Wilkins and Kenneth Yates of Big Spring.
Jamie Lynn Long of Lubbock and Brian Ruskin Wills of Austin, announce their engagement.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Frank and Glenda Long of Big Spring. Her paternal grandparents are Elbert and Monohn Long of Big Spring. Maternal grandparents are Wanda Jones of Big Spring, Jackie Jones of Rockwall and the late Glen Jones.
The prospective groom is the son of Charles and Barbara Wills of Euless. His paternal grandparents are Mary Wills of Richardson and the late Donald Wills. Maternal grandparents are the late Burton and Ruth Stein.
Janie Aguilar and Victor Garcia, both of Big Spring, will exchange wedding vows Nov. 12, 2011 in a 1 p.m. ceremony at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs. Juanita Aguilar and the late Louis Aguilar of Big Spring. Her grandparents are the late Jose Aguilar and the late Victoria Aguilar.
She is a 1986 graduate of Big Spring High School. She attended Howard College in 1986 and received her certification for nurses aide. She is employed by Mrs. Bobbie Thomas.
Worship is Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in our sanctuary at 810 Scurry. Sunday school, led by Pastor Don Rosentreter, is in the parish hall after worship.
Wednesday noon Bible study will cover â€śHeld in High Esteem.â€ť Bring a brown bag lunch.

Tea Party time at the Heart of the City Park, Saturday at 10 a.m.
Howard County conservatives have organized Saturday's tea party, but extends an invitation to all community residents. The meeting will take place across from the Howard County Courthouse.
State Rep. Jim Landtroop will be speaking as well as candidates for the Republican primary seeking the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Some ruts are nice to be in.
As they have for the past several years, the Big Spring High School and Forsan High School marching bands turned in exemplary performances at recent University Interscholastic League regional competition, with each band earning a Division I rating, the highest possible.
Forsan's performance earned it another spot in the Class 2A area contest, which will be held Saturday in Lubbock. The top three bands there advance to the UIL state marching contest, set for November in San Antonio.
