The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday:
â˘ ALEX FERRELL PAREDEZ, 20, of 903 E. 16th St., was arrested Friday on charges of public intoxication and consume alcoholic beverage/license for off premise consumption.
â˘ YVETTE YVONNE SOLIZ, 26, of 1206 Johnson, was arrested Friday on warrants for safety seat system/child under the age of 8 or less than 4'9â tall, fail to display drivers license (two counts) and assault: by threat.
Howard County commissioners will meet Monday morning to discuss a number of items, including possible approval of a contract with Dallas-based WBK Construction to manage the court's ongoing project to build a new joint law enforcement center.
The project â which would provide a new home for both the Howard County Sheriff's Office and Big Spring Police Department, located at the newly constructed County Detention Center â has been in the works for more than a year now, and according to County Judge Mark Barr, Monday's meeting could pave the way for construction to begin.
âAnd the Man and Woman of the Year are âŚ â yet to be determined.
Man and Woman of the Year will be announced at the annual Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce banquet set for Jan. 31. Of course, for those wanting to submit a nomination there are a few requirements to remember.
All nominations must be submitted in written form, provided and approved by the selection committee in order to ensure the relevant information is received about the nominee.
Wanda Taylor, 75, of Big Spring, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Mount Olive Memorial Park with Rev. Doug Shelley, officiating.
Deborah Ann Lewis, 46, of Big Spring, died Sunday, November 20, 2011. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Myers & Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Holston Banks, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
She was born August 6, 1965 in Big Spring, Texas to Doris Noble and Jessie Brown. She was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. She worked as a waitress at Dennyâs, TA Travel Center, Wendyâs and Pizza Hut.
Rosa D. Saldivar, 85, of Big Spring died Monday, November 21, 2011 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Vigil services will be held Sunday at 7:00 PM at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Monsignor Bernard L. Gully, officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
Virginia Lu oliver, 79 of Livingston, Texas formerly of Big Spring, Texas passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at Methodist Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
Betty Jo Anderson, 71, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Barbara Kirk-Norris, pastor of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, officiating.Â
