Wanda Aslin Taylor, 75, of Big Spring, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Her services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Thomas M. Yeats, 87, of Big Spring, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. His ervices are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday:
• ELEUTERIO TORRES PADRON, 62, of 509 N. Goliad St., was arrested Friday on a charge of public intoxication.
• GARY LEE SMALE JR., 37, of 538 Westover St. 105, was arrested Friday on a charge of driving while license suspended/invalid previous conviction.
• DON LLOYD BROOKS, 45, of 1712 E. 15th St., was arrested Friday on a charge of public intoxication.
• AVEL ABREO RAMIREZ, 64, of 1512 Wood St., was arrested Friday on a charge of public intoxication.
November 18th
Local law enforcement officials are warning area merchants to be on the lookout for counterfeit $20 bills circulating in the Crossroads area which have been treated with a chemical allowing them to at least partially defeat detection markers.
Sgt. Tony Everett, public information officer with the Big Spring Police Department, said the counterfeit $20 bills have been turning up at several different businesses in and around the Big Spring area.
Bowls were filled and a purposed was served during the Empty Bowls — Five Golden Bowls event at First Christian Church Thursday afternoon.
More than 170 area residents flooded the church hall, enjoyed a bowl of soup and walked away with a one-of-a-kind reminder that there are some who constantly have their bowls remain empty. Attendees were able to choose from nine different soups provided by community members.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. today:
• MERRITA CHAMBERS, 58, of 511 N.W. Eighth St., was arrested Thursday on a charge of public intoxication.
• DEVON MARCUS MUSCHARA, 20, of 2911 W. Highway 80 Apt. 120, was arrested Thursday on a warrant for hindering secured creditors – more than $20 and less than $500.
• MARIO ROBERT OVALLE, 38, of 305 E. 19th St., was arrested Thursday on warrants for no driver's license – when unlicensed and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
Dr. Bill T. Chrane, 82, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel.
He was born Aug. 7, 1929, to Ann and B.T. Chrane in Dudley, Taylor County, Texas. He grew up in Big Spring and graduated from Big Spring High School at the age of 15.
Dwight Barton, 68, of Big Spring died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home with Nick Portocarrero officiating.
He was born Nov. 5, 1943, in Brownsboro, Texas, to Belle Pauline (Smith) Barton and Richard Alvin Barton. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served in Vietnam. He was a math teacher in Kerrville, Odessa, Andrews and Big Spring school districts. He was a substitute teacher at Forsan.
He married Jean Pike on Dec. 21, 1993, in Odessa.
Eva M. “Evita” Dominguez, 77, of Big Spring died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
She was born Sept. 2, 1934, in George West, Texas, to Eva (Saldivar) Moreno and Francisco Moreno. She married Rodolfo Dominguez on Feb. 13, 1951, in George West, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1983.
Artha Lee Gibbs, 64, of Big Spring, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Holston Banks Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
He was born Dec. 6, 1946, in Bryan, Texas and married Betty Johnson Dec. 14, 1979 in Big Spring. They moved to Big Spring in 1991 from Bryan, Texas.
