COAHOMA — The Coahoma City Council is taking a “slow and steady” approach to adopting the first-ever zoning maps for this community.
The council tabled plans to vote on adopting the maps during its Thursday meeting, giving city officials more opportunities to fine-tune the proposal and address concerns raised by residents during a series of public meetings on the subject.
Investigators with the Big Spring Police Department Narcotics Division made two more arrests Thursday afternoon, bringing this week's total to 19 collars since local, state and federal law enforcement agencies began rounding up alleged traffickers earlier this week.
Dijuan Ausbie, 23, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Also arrested was Tina Ausbie, 24, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. today:
â˘ THOMAS RAY CAMARILLO, 38, of 413 S. Fifth St. in Coahoma, was arrested Thursday on a charge of public intoxication.
â˘ STEVEN VALENCIA GAMBOA, 28, of 506 N. Nolan, was arrested Thursday on charges of public intoxication and expired registration.
â˘ JULIAN JAY TORRES, 18, of 500.5 N.W. Seventh St., was arrested Thursday on a charge of consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Ramon C. Montez, 91, of Fort Worth passed away Dec. 15, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 5550 E. Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth, Texas, with rosary at 7 p.m. Friday at Lucas Sylvania Funeral Chapel.
Ramon was born in Ruidosa, Presidio County, on Jan. 25, 1920, the son of Dionicio âNiehoâ Montez and Isabel Canava. When he was very young, his mother brought him to Marfa, where he spent most of his young life with his mother and later his grandmother, Ros Quintana.
Mona Faye Tinsley Walker Holman, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Christus-Schumpert Highland Hospital in Shreveeport, La., following a short illness. Funeral services will be held ft the Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer, La., on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Dr. Shelby Cowling officiating. Interment will follow at Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville, La. The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Jacqueline Ann Martin Durham (Christi), age 50, of Grandview, Tenn., died at her home on Dec. 1, 2011, after a 13-year battle with cancer. Services were held Dec. 4, 2011, in Crossville, Tenn.
Christi was born to Harold C. Martin and Jacqueline Martin âBitsyâ on Jan. 24, 1961, in Big Spring, Texas. She attended Big Spring High School, and later moved to Midland, Texas, where she met her husband, Bobby Durham. The two later moved to Grandview, Tenn.
Christi worked at Lazy Boy for several years.
Bill Bennett, 80, of Big Spring, died Thursday, December 15, 2011 in a local hospital. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
