The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Friday and 7a.m. Saturday:
âą RICHARD LEOS, 33, of 1207 E. 16th St., was arrested on warrants for disregard a stop sign and fail to appear.
âą TIMOTHY JOSEPH MAJOR, 37, of 114 Colorado, was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended/invalid with previous conviction, accident involving damage to vehicle more than $200 and criminal mischief more than $1500 less than $20,000.
âą THEFT was reported in the 1300 block of S. Gregg.
âą BURGLARY OF HABITATION was reported in the 600 block of Linda.

The Lady Steers outscored Odessa High in every quarter to take a 34-23 win in a low-scoring game at the basketball tournament in Andrews.
Cerbi Ritchey led everyone on the court with nine points and 12 rebounds, while Diamond Mayes added eight points and six rebounds. Workhorse Bridgette Tuitt (32 minutes of game time) joined in with seven points and four rebounds.

With so many worthwhile causes trying to make the holiday season happy for people from all walks of life, Adult Protective Services is hoping area gift-givers will look to a slightly different demographic at Christmas.
Part of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Adult Protective Services began the "Be a Star" program this week, collecting Christmas gifts for the area's elderly and disabled.
A tradition 20 plus years in the making continues this year when Canterbury hosts its annual Christmas Bazaar.
Area residents can take advantage of a unique shopping experience from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 1700 S. Lancaster.
“This is a great place to bring grandma shopping,” Executive Director Shannon M. Nabors said.
Homer âLeeâ Williford Jr., 63, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Wes Massey, pastor of First Baptist Church of Coahoma, officiating.
He was born May 10, 1948, in Big Spring to Evelyn and Homer Williford Sr. He was a general contractor, a lifetime resident of Howard County and a Baptist.
Alejandra 'Ale" Smithwick Doporto, 69, of Odessa, formerly of Big Spring died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at her sonâs residence. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
She was born Nov. 6, 1942, in Little Rock, Ark., to Gregoria and Albert Smithwick Sr. She lived most of her life in Big Spring, except for the last 21 years in Odessa. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
Teri Nall, 54, of Big Spring died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at her residence. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

The annual performance of “The Nutcracker” may be a few weeks away, but for those wanting to dig deeper, Friday is your chance.
Howard College Dance department and Big Spring Symphony Guild will be presenting “The Nutcracker in a Nutshell.” The event is free to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Hall Center for the Arts on the Howard College campus.
Big Spring Independent School District officials want to get the word out about new state standardized testing that will take effect this year.
BSISD will host three public meetings for parents of high school freshmen to explain some of the requirements their children will face from the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) end of course exams.
The meetings are scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight and 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday. All meetings will be held at the high school auditorium.
