The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. today:
• MATTHEW RODRIGUEZ, 18, of 410 Aylesford, was arrested Thursday on a charge of public intoxication by a minor.
• KENNETH ODIS LEWIS, 56, of 1704 Hilltop, was arrested Thursday on warrants for failure to appear and driving without a safety belt.
• DAWN CHERIE HARTFIELD, 38, of 2509 Gunter, was arrested Thursday on a warrant from another agency.
• ROBERT RUBEN SANCHEZ, 46, of 1023 Stadium, was arrested Thursday on a charge of public intoxication.

Floyd J. Morehouse, 82, of Big Spring died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Bates officiating.

Marilyn Joan Constant Moore, 74, of Octavia, Okla., formerly of Big Spring died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, in a Dallas hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2011, at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Walter McCall officiating.

William A. 'Am' Fitzgerald

William A. "Am" Fitzgerald, 93, of Big Spring died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in an Odessa hospice facility. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Craig Holstedt officiating.

Alfonso Reyes Sr., 61, of Big Spring died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at his residence. Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Wilma Marlow, 81, of Big Spring died Friday, March 25, 2011, in a local hospital. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.

CHS golfers fourth in Roosevelt tourney

March 25, 2011

LORENZO — The Coahoma boys' golf team finished fourth at the Roosevelt High School Invitational at Lorenzo Country Club Wednesday.

Idalou No. 1 won the tournament with a combined score of 316. Colorado City was second, followed by Slaton and Coahoma.

Nine teams entered the tournament.

Low score for the Bulldogs was Adrian Grant with a 93, followed by Alex Hill (98), Reagan Reid and Kaleb McAdams (101) and Morgan Luce.

New exhibit to open at museum

Take a trip down memory lane, courtesy of the Heritage Museum.

“Then and Now” is a pictorial comparison of what Big Spring used to be and what it has become. Accompanying the exhibit is a pictorial book by the same name: "Big Spring Then and Now," including 100 photos.

“We get a lot of requests for photographs and we are hoping that this will fill that need,” said Tammy Schrecengost, Heritage Museum curator.

Volunteers needed for annual trash off

Crossroads area volunteers — led by Keep Big Spring Beautiful — will kick off the season with some spring cleaning Saturday, April 2, as the local organization teams up with the state of Texas for the annual Don't Mess With Texas Trash-off.

“Keep Texas Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, which has each State scheduled for a clean up from March 1 through May 31,” said longtime Trash-off coordinator Pat Simmons. “So, Texas always works on the first Saturday in April unless Easter falls on that week-end.
