Omigene Vandever, 90, of Big Spring died Sunday, April 17, 2011, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating.
Barbara Gene Merworth, 72, of Big Spring died Friday, April 15, 2011, at her residence. Memorial services were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, at Gateway Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter McCall, Hospice Chaplain, officiating.
Olivia S. Porras, 83, of Big Spring died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at her residence. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Monsignor Bernard L. Gully officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Travis N. Rushing, 71, of Big Spring died Friday, April 15, 2011, in a local hospital. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the Salvation Army, located at 811 W. Fifth St.
James Lee Overton, 19, of Big Spring died Friday, April 15, 2011, in Levelland. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with the Rev. Doug Shelley, pastor of Eastside Baptist Church, officiating.
Deanie Burdette, 62, of Big Spring died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Mike Moates officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
JoAnne Trevino, 60, of Big Spring died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at her residence. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

ABILENE — The Garden City High School girls' golf team is in the hunt for a spot in the state high school tournament, but it has some catching up to do.
The Lady Bearkats shot a team total 382, good enough for third place, during first-day action at the Region II-1A golf tournament Monday. That score leaves Garden City 18 strokes behind Robert Lee.
The top two teams at the regional level qualify for the University Interscholastic League state high school tournament, scheduled for May in Austin.
