Sharon L. Carter, 48, of Big Spring died Sunday, May 15, 2011, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Midway Baptist Church.
Manuel Sosa Dominguez Sr., 74, of Big Spring died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
Lydia Reece, 55, of Sand Springs died Sunday, May 15, 2011, at her residence. A gathering for friends and family will be held at noon Saturday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Charles “Bean” Williams, 78, of Big Spring died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at his residence. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Pastor Calvary Calander officiating.
Saundra Heffington Webb, 60, of Odessa, formerly of Big Spring died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at her residence. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Mary Fowler, 93, of Big Spring died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
The Howard College Hawks put a bow on their 2011 baseball season by placing several players on the all-conference and all-region teams.
Howard finished the seasaon with a 46-13 record and their third straight Western Junior College Athletic Conference title. The Hawks narrowly missed making their third trip to the national junior college World Series, losing to Grayson in the championship game of the Region V baseball tournament.
Along with the head coach, five Howard players were named to the all-WJCAC team.

Coahoma High School has named Josh Castilaw as its 2011 valedictorian and Michael Weihert as salutatorian.
Castilaw is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Castilaw and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Coates. During his high school career he served as freshman class president. He was a student council representative for three years and served as student council president his senior year. He also served as senior class president. He was in National Honor Society for three years and received the John Philip Sousa Award this year. He also made the “A” honor roll.
Forsan Elementary School students at Elbow collected a busload of plastics in a week's time and learned a lot about recycling along the way.
Three large bales of plastic, weighing approximately 3,000 pounds, were sent to Wal-Mart’s recycling center. T
his year, the Gifted and Talented class decided to “Go Green.” All projects were based on that premise. The class visited the Keep Big Spring Beautiful Club meeting and participated in the Trash Off event in April.
Officials with the Salvation Army's Boys and Girls Club of Big Spring are asking area residents to search their garages and attics for donations to Saturday's community yard sale to raise much-needed funds to send local youngsters to camp.
According to Sonnet Hildebrand, director of the local Boys and Girls Club, donations to the annual yard sale have come in slowly.
