LENORAH â Grady did its best to deliver the knockout punch to Sands in a matchup of two top 10 teams.
It was the Mustangs, however, who delivered the final blow.
In a wild back and forth contest, No. 9 Sands upended No. 10 Grady 48-47 Tuesday at Wildcat Gym in Lenorah in District 8A, Division II action.
Both teams are playoff bound, but the win gives Sands the easier path to the district championship, especially since the Mustangs beat Grady at home earlier this season.
MONAHANS â Cerbi Ritcheyâs 20 points powered the Big Spring Lady Steers past Monahans 55-43 in non-district action.
Throughout District 5-3A play, the Lady Steers had been in a shooting slump, but with the win over Snyder Friday and Mondayâs win over Monahans, Big Spring seems headed in the right direction with Abilene Wylie on tap at home.
Diamond Mayes chipped in 10 points while Mackenzie Stone hit two 3-pointers. The gave Big Spring its 17th of the season.
