Omega Hernandez, 80, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Billy Joe Burleson, 55, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel with Jerome McNally, pastor of New Life Ministries Church of God in Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Hamlin East Cemetery in Hamlin, Texas.
He was born July 24, 1956, in Hamlin, Texas, to Rosie Lee and James Burleson. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in road construction. He moved to Big Spring in 1990 from Hamlin. He was a member of Christ Community Fellowship.

February 11 will provide an opportunity to combine love for the park and the love to run and even a chance to share it with your partner, in the first annual Run 2 Love 2 Run at the Big Spring State Park.
âValentineâs Day was the inspiration for this event, of course,â Park Manager Ron Alton said. âThis is an incentive for folks to stay fit.â
Hauchen Zhang, gold medalist of the Van Cliburn piano competition, will perform with the Big Spring Symphony Orchestra in Garrett Hall the evening of Saturday, Feb. 4.
The concert was originally scheduled fto be held at the Big Spring Municipal Auditorium, but delays in renovation of the facility forced a change of venue. Garrett Hall is located at First United Methodist Church, at the corner of Scurry and Fourth streets. The concert will begin at 8 p.m.
Zhang, of China, is the first gold medalist to perform with the orchestra, according to Dr. Keith Graumann, conductor.
