October 17th
Ella 'Bea' Fishback, 83, of Coahoma died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, in a Big Spring assisted living facility. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Jerrod Fishback officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at the funeral home.
She was born July 9, 1929, in Hazle Dell (Comanche County), Texas, and married William Albert "Bill" Fishback Dec. 30, 1948, in Brownwood, Texas. He preceded her in death Feb. 4, 2009.
Mike Colclazer, 60, of Big Spring died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, in a Brady hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at the funeral home.
Dennis Brehm Sr., 59, of Big Spring died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel with the Rev. Holston Banks officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Bruce Hicks, 60, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.

An Odessa man has been arrested and charged with theft and drug possession following the search of a local property where a number of stolen items — including a large quantity of oilfield equipment — were recovered.
Robert Allen Pasquale, 28, of 133 Aztec Ave. in Odessa, was arrested Friday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and theft after investigators discovered more than $40,000 in stolen property at a residence located northeast of Big Spring.
COAHOMA — School trustees here are expected to join with a majority of Texas public school districts in supporting a resolution calling for changes in the state's high-stakes testing system.
Coahoma Independent School District trustees will consider the resolution when they hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. today in the administration building board room.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. today:
• MARK D. MEYERS, 48, of 1800 S. Monticello, was arrested Monday on a warrant from another agency.
• SANDRO SANDOVAL, 34, of Rio Grande City, Texas, was arrested Monday on a charge of driving while license invalid – DWI related.
• JOHN FLORES JR., 48, of 1517 Sycamore, was arrested Monday on charges of public intoxication and theft – more than $50 and less than $500.
• RONALD EDWARD WILKINS, 44, of 3101 Navajo, was arrested Monday on a warrant for assault – family violence.

It didn't come easy, but No. 2 ranked Abilene Wylie earned a 4-3A District-opening victory over Big Spring on Friday at Memorial Stadium.
After falling behind 21-0 in the first quarter, the Steers rallied back outscoring the Bulldogs 24-21 for the remainder of the game, but the early deficit was too much to overcome and Wylie handed BSHS its first loss of the season, outscoring the Steers 42-24.
HASKELL — After losing two straight games against perennial playoff squads Crane and Sundown, the Forsan Buffaloes edged the Haskell Indians 14-7 on the road to open District 4-1A action with a win and improving their record to 5-2 on the season.
Haskell scored early on a touchdown pass to Warren Flye from quarterback Brett Shelton.
Senior running back Brendan Roman returned after being sidelined with a rib injury and racked up 127 yards on the ground and scored a Forsan touchdown in the first quarter of play.
