Joe T. Gamble, 88, of Big Spring died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Claudine (Sam) Dillard, 94, of Big Spring died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Pat Ray, pastor of Prairieview Baptist Church, officiating.
Hubert Donald “H.D.” Barber, 82, of Big Spring, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. today:
• ANTHONY A. VASQUEZ, 38, of 2525 Hunter, was arrested Thursday on two warrants from other agencies.
• ANDREW JUAREZ JR., 23, of 411 Trades, was arrested Friday on a charge of failure to identify as a fugitive – giving false information and a warrant from another agency.
• ASSAULT was reported in the 1400 block of Tucson.
• THEFT was reported:
In the 1000 block of N.W. Second Street.
In the 700 block of Scurry.
• BURGLARY OF A HABITATION was reported:

Joanne Forrest was recognized with the American Cancer Society Lifetime Achievement Award during the Community Kick-off for Relay this week. Mark another successful year down for Empty Bowls, one of the biggest United Way of Big Spring and Howard County fundraisers.
With more than 250 people supporting the annual fundraiser, the organization brought in a little more than $6,000 toward the 2013 campaign goal set at $300,000.
“Every year is a success, but this year was just amazing. We changed venues in order to allow more people to experience the event,” United Way Executive Director Sandy Stewart said.
