FORSAN â€” The Buffaloes will be losing some gridiron stalwarts this year, including quarterback Marcus Cervantes, safety Trevor Burchett and runningback Brendan Roman.
Luckily for Head Football Coach Jason Phillips, he has more all-district selections expected to return next year than are graduating.
â€śWe had a good senior class this year,â€ť Phillips said. â€śEspecially with all the injuries â€” most of them were to seniors â€” but they were a big part of our success and helped us build our program. I am proud of those guys.â€ť
BIG SPRING â€” The Steers (5-10), lost a hard-fought battle to Seminole on Friday at Steer Gym, 66-59. Steer varsity will look to get back in action with a win at the Bridgeport Tournament, which is set to begin Friday against an opponent to be announced.
The Lady Steers are off until Thursday, when they travel to Lubbock for the Caprock Tournament. BSHS will face Tulia at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lubbock Coronado.

Those weren't elves scattering about Big Spring Friday, but they definitely qualified as Santa's helpers.
Volunteers with the Hometown Christmas program capped their third annual effort Friday, fanning out across the area, delivering Christmas presents to needy families and children.
Sixty families and about 400 people â€” roughly twice the number helped in 2011 â€” received gifts through the program this year, said volunteer Kathy Johnson.
Howard County commissioners voted unanimously Friday to adopt a road use agreement in hopes of sharing the mounting cost of rural road maintenance made necessary by the ongoing boom in the oilfield.
The court â€” with Precinct 1 Councilwoman Emma Brown absent â€” voted in favor of the agreement, which has been in the works for several months now, with the fees tacked on to county permits.
Patsy Baird, 75, of Big Spring, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in a local nursing home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Private interment will follow at a later date at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born Aug. 27, 1937, in Vincent, Texas and married James Baird Nov. 24, 1956, in Big Spring, Texas.
She was a lifelong resident of Big Spring and was a member of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ.
Maria Linda Vera, 56, of Midland, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, in Stanton. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Bautista Calvario Church in Stanton. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family received friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.
Survivors include a sister, Sally Ochoa of Midland; and brothers Jose Vera of Big Spring and Marcelo Vera.
