Today marks a first for the Crossroads area, as the Big Spring Police Department made its final move into the Troy M. Hogue Joint Law Enforcement Center, placing all local law enforcement agencies under the same roof.
The BSPD â which joins the Howard County Sheriff's Office at the newly constructed facility â announced this week the move marks the closure of the previous police department building, located in downtown Big Spring.
Hundreds of U.S. military personnel stationed overseas this Christmas season will receive some holiday cheer from area residents, thanks to a âgreatâ response to the just-concluded Howard County's Christmas for Our Troops drive, organizers said.
Debbie Burrow, who led the drive, said almost 500 packages filled with holiday goodies, Christmas cards, toiletries and other items were mailed out this week.
Those items, plus the money to buy even more package-stuffers, were supplied by very generous Howard County residents, Burrow said.
