If you have unresolved warrants in the Crossroads area, you have plenty to fear this week and next, as law enforcement agencies in Howard County and the surrounding areas get ready to conduct a warrant roundup Saturday.
Part of a statewide effort to help municipalities and other government agencies tackle the growing number of arrest warrants being issued, Big Spring Municipal Judge Tim Green said every effort has been made to contact those with warrants and get the matters cleared up before the handcuffs get slapped on.
Juanita Marquez, 86, of Big Spring died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Bertram Warner, 91, of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Gary Shane Ringener, 36, of Lubbock died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in a Lubbock hospice facility. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
Shane was born Feb. 26, 1975, in Lamesa, Texas.
Survivors include his mother, Letha Ringener of Madill, Okla.; brother, Larry Wayne Ringener of Lubbock; and four aunts.
Leland Calvert, 81, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012. He was born April 9, 1930, to Willie and Thelma Calvert in Spur, Texas.
Leland served in the U.S. Army, farmed in Spur, Texas, and retired from the postal service, where he was a supervisor in Big Spring, Texas. He moved to South Texas after retiring to Lakewood to pursue his interest in fishing, gardening and hunting. He enjoyed his retirement, traveling and being with his family, especially his grandson.
Leland was a loyal Presbyterian and served as an elder in the churches in Big Spring and Goliad.
Scenic Mountain Medical Center is inviting Crossroads area residents help them brag just a bit â and enjoy some goodies as well.
Late last year, Press Ganey Associates Inc. named SMMC a 2011 Top ImproverÂŽ Award winner. To recognize the achievement, CEO Larry Rodgers wants residents to join with SMMC staff in celebrating the award by attending a âQuality Open Houseâ from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. The festivities, scheduled for the main SMMC Lobby, will feature light refreshments, door prizes and drawings.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
â˘ JASON EDWARD FRENCH, 30, of 1705 Purdue, was arrested Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
â˘ PATRICK ALEXANDER LEAHY, 22, of 1313 Robin, was arrested Sunday on a charge of public intoxication.
â˘ TRENTON PATRICK MULLIN, 13103 Priet Lane in Cypress, was arrested Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
