Mary E. Grandey, 91, of Big Spring died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, in a local nursing home. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Marjorie E. Bentley, 89, of Carrollton, formerly of Stanton died Saturday, May 19, 2012, in a Ft. Worth hospital. Her services are pending with Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
Louis C. Ramirez, 80, of Big Spring died Monday, May 21, 2012, at his residence. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Doris Brewer, 90, of Midland died Monday, May 21, 2012, in a Midland nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel with Larry Henderson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Gilbreath Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 15, 1921, in Plainview, Texas.
Gene Laroy Leonard, 65, of Big Spring died Friday, May 18, 2012, at his residence. Private family services will be held at a later date.
He was born Dec. 3, 1946, in Tucumcari, N.M. He owned and operated SteepleJacks for 15 years and then was a crane operator for Cathey Construction. He retired in 2009 due to ill health. He lived in Howard County for most of his life.
Jack H. Jones Jr., 53, of Big Spring died Monday, May 21, 2012, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. David Dawson and the Rev. Donita Lea officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 19, 1958, in Big Spring, Texas, and married Kenda Born on Feb. 2, 1979, in Big Spring, Texas.
Area residents will have the opportunity to sound off to their congressional representative Wednesday afternoon.
U.S. Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Lubbock) will participate in a variety of activities Wednesday, capped by a town hall meeting set for 2:30 p.m. at Howard Collegeâ€™s Hall Center for the Arts.
The meeting will follow the structure of past events Neugebauer has hosted â€” the congressman will give a brief legislative update, then open the floor for questions from the public.

Howard County commissioners moved one step closer to hiring a new road and bridge administrator during a special meeting Monday morning, as the court looks to fill the position, which has been open since late March.
Commissioners met Monday in executive session to discuss two candidates, both of which County Judge Mark Barr described as extremely well qualified.
Goodbyes and hellos will figuratively highlight this monthâ€™s Howard College trusteesâ€™ meeting.
Trustees are expected to accept the resignation of Provost Javier Flores and greet his replacement when they meet in the Tumbleweed Room at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
