Police blotter 5-26-2012

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday:
• LAUREN LARCH SMITH, 24, of 1501 S. Scurry, was arrested Friday on charges of assault family violence threat or offensive touch (two counts).
• CHRISTOPHER AARON SALAZAR, 24, of 1602 Sunset, was arrested Friday on a warrant from other agency.
• ALBERT SMITH, 39, of 1609 Oriole St., was arrested Friday on a charge of possession of marijuana less than or equal to two ounces and warrant from other agency (two counts).

Frances ‘Frankie’ Herron

Frances “Frankie†Herron, 77, of Crowley, formerly of Big Spring, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, in a Fort Worth nursing home. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.

C-City authorities seeking public's help in search for missing mom, child

Law enforcement officials in Colorado City are searching for a 23-year-old mother and her child after investigators say she was reported missing Wednesday.

Reports made to the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office indicate Brittany Hill and her 2-year-old daughter, Khloe Wheeler, were last seen Wednesday around 3 p.m. in Hill's 2002 blue-gray Toyota Highlander.

According to investigators, there is a white cross-shaped sticker and a decal reading "In Memory of Jessica Castillo" on the back of the vehicle.

Garden City seniors graduate tonight

GARDEN CITY — Katie Multer and Reggie Halfmann are the top graduates for Garden City High School' Class of 2012, school officials announced.

Multer, the daughter of Tanya and Warren Multer, is class valedictorian. During her high school career, she has been active in National Honor Society, student council, University Interscholastic League academics, Fellowship of Christian Students, Future Farmers of America, one-act play, Business Professionals of America and robotics.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. today:
• GLENN DETRICT LOTTMAN II, of New Braunfels, Texas, was arrested Thursday on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving while license invalid, failure to signal lane change and disregarding a red light.
• ANTHONY ROBERT SANCHEZ, 25, of 1415 Tucson, was arrested Thursday on charges of failure to identify – giving false information and driving while license invalid – DWI related.

Mary Elizabeth Grandey

Mary Elizabeth Grandey, 91, of Big Spring died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, in a local nursing home. A private family memorial will be held in Dallas.
She was born June 14, 1920, in Greenville, Texas.

Mrs. Grandey had worked as a switchboard operator at Sears. She was a member of 14th and Main Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Pettitt of Big Spring and Nancy Rogers and husband Bill of Athens; four grandchildren, Kelly Hunter and wife Liliana, Jana Hunter, Jenny Parum and Jim Louis and wife Lori; and five great-grandchildren.

Marjorie E. 'Margie' Bentley

Marjorie E. "Margie" Bentley, 89, of Carrollton formerly of Stanton, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, in a Fort Worth hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Evergreen Cemetery, Stanton.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the funeral home

She was born May 4, 1923, in Stanton, Texas, and graduated valedictorian from Stanton High School. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John Jackson Bentley.

Jerry L. Turney

Jerry L. Turney, 71, of Big Spring died Thursday, May 24, 2012, in a local hospital. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 15, 1941, in Lamesa, Texas, and married Euna Vallene Wilkerson in July 1959. They had two sons, Jeffery and Jay. He later married Winnie E. Dippel on June 3, 1981.

James McVicars

James McVicars, 85, of Midland died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Parkview Nursing Home in Big Spring. Memorial services will be held in Toronto, Canada, at a later date.

He was born in Stirling, Scotland, March 27, 1927, and after serving in the British Marines moved to Toronto, Canada. James worked as a dance instructor for many years, opening studios in Jacksonville, Florida and Lubbock, Texas. He later started a construction business in Midland, Texas.
