Dust off your hat and pull up your boots, it's rodeo time in Big Spring.
The Big Spring Cowboy Reunion and Rodeo makes its 79th run beginning Thursday in the historic Big Spring Rodeo Bowl.
Featuring the nation's top professional cowboy and cowgirl performers in the arena and country star Aaron Watson on stage, the annual event will continue through Saturday night. Gates open at 7 each evening with the grand entry to get under way at 8. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children in advance and $12 and $8 at the gate. Box seats are available for $250.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. today:
â€˘ EDWARD GARCIA JR., 33, of 642 Manor Lane, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for criminal mischief â€“ more than $500 and less than $1,500.
â€˘ JERRY MITCHELL MARCON, 20, of 1002 N. Main St. Apt. 55, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of criminal mischief â€“ more than $50 and less than $500.
â€˘ ASSAULT was reported in the 2500 block of Chanute.
â€˘ THEFT was reported:
In the 4200 block of W. Highway 80.
In the 900 block of Settles.
Frances â€śJeanâ€ť Thomason, 87, passed away at her residence Monday, June 18, 2012. She was born Aug. 29, 1924, to Walter and Ruth (Erwin) Duncan at McQueen, Okla. She graduated from Reed, Okla., High School in 1942. She attended Mangum Junior College. She married JT Thomason on Sept. 13, 1942, in Russell, Okla.
Eugene Hall, 74, of Midland passed away June 18, 2012, at Midland Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel.
Survivors include his daughters, Gena Minihan and Lesa Thompson; a son, Sheldon Drake; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Olivia Gonzales, 64, of Big Spring died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Motorists traveling along Birdwell Lane this week are being asked to use caution and have some patience, as one of the southbound lanes of the thoroughfare from Sunset to 11th Place will be closed for repairs.
According to Assistant City Manager Todd Darden, the street repairs are part of the city of Big Spring's recent waterline replacement project that began on Third and Fourth streets and recently made its way out to Birdwell Lane.
The runoff election to select a new Big Spring Independent School District trustee is attracting next to no attention from voters so far.
With early voting for Saturday's runoff ending today, only 10 ballots have been cast in the runoff, which will select the school district's District 2 trustee.
Incumbent Maria Padilla, seeking a fourth term on the board, is facing challenger Pat DeAnda in the election.

Father Barry McLean passed away suddenly in San Angelo on June 17, 2012, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in San Angelo where he was concelebrating at the Marriage Jubilee Mass with Bishop Michael D. Pfeifer, OMI.
