A Big Spring man was found guilty of intoxication assault in 118th District Court Tuesday for his part in the June 20, 2011, traffic accident which nearly claimed the life of a passenger in the vehicle he was driving.
Wesley James Shoup, 44, of 800 W. Marcy No. 22 or 4016 Vicky, was indicted April 12, 2012, by a Howard County grand jury on a third-degree felony charge of intoxication assault.
For 20 years, area people and organizations have been coming together for the Cactus and Crude Bike Ride to help those with multiple sclerosis (MS). On July 21 and 22, it will happen once again.
“This is something that gets people together helping people who can't help themselves,” said David Ham, owner of Peyton's Bike in Midland.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. today:
• MARCUS FUENTES, 36, of 216 Tubb Loop Rd., was arrested Tuesday on a charge of driving while license invalid.
• CHARLIE JAKE TURNER JR., 33, of 4215 Hamilton, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of criminal trespass.
• DAVID ARNULFO GARZA, 48, of 2620 Albrook, was arrested Tuesday on charges of driving while license invalid (two counts) and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
Mary Jones Hoover, 84, died July 9, 2012, in Iowa Park, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, At Johnson Funeral Home in Childress, Texas. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Trinity Worship Center in Childress, with the Rev. Ronnie Shoffner officiating. Burial will be in Northfield Cemetery.
Charles D. Lee, 72, of Midland, died Monday, July 9, 2012, in a Midland hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, with the Rev. Frank Melgoza and the Rev. Kenneth Johnson of Goodwill Baptist Church in Midland officiating.
He was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Teague, Texas. Charles worked as a welder for Permian Welding for many years. He enjoyed grilling outdoors and helping others in their time of need. He was a Baptist.
George C. “Buddy” Clinton Sr., 85, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in Sonora, Texas. His services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Rheba Cauble, 92, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at her residence. Her services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
