Splishin' and a splashin' will be taking place at 5, 6 and 10 Under West Texas Skies.
The Big Spring Family Aquatic Center will be the setting for the 2012 Newswest 9 Under West Texas Skies wrap up. The events are set to start at 4 p.m. Friday 20 and continue until 10 p.m.
“For the past several years, we have been the last stop on the week-long journey and this year we are wrapping things up on the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts,” Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Debbye ValVerde said.

That is the call from those wanting to start a Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter in the Big Spring area. Fundraisers are getting underway, with hopes of being able to bring the mentor program to the area. The first fundraiser —community garage sale — will take place Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
• SANTIAGO GOMEZ GALINDO, 25, of Midland, Texas, was arrested Sunday, on charges of hindering officers discharging official duties and failure to identify.
• ROSARIO CABRERA SANCHEZ, 55, of Odessa, Texas, was arrested Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
• ROBERT GARDNER LYNCH JR., 51, of 300 Veterans Blvd, was arrested Sunday on a charge of public intoxication.
