Levi Pearson, 80, of Big Spring died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at his residence. The family received friends from 8:00 PM until 9:00 PM Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Rev. Craig Felty officiating.
Teodora T. Ramirez, died July 3, 2012, with her family by her side in Big Spring, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Msgr. Bernard L. Gully, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
She was born May 1, 1933, in Del Rio, Texas, to Felipe T. and Teodora T. Ramirez. Her father was a bootmaker and mother a homemaker. They moved to Big Spring in 1937.
Oren âWayneâ Brown passed away June 7, 2012, at the age of 79 in Edmond Memorial Hospital.
Wayne was born Feb. 1, 1933, to O.O. âBrackâ and Myrtle Brown in Jayton, Texas, and moved to Big Spring, Texas, in 1943.
He graduated from high school in 1951 then joined the Air Force. Wayne lived and coached softball in Guthrie, Edmond and Oklahoma City.
Ronald Barrow, 56, of Big Spring, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Private services will be held at a later date.
He was born Jan. 18, 1956, in Big Spring, Texas, to Barbara Barrow. He lived in Oregon most of his life. He moved to Big Spring in 1996 and worked at TA â Travel Centers of America â as a cashier.
He is survived by one sister, Tanya Beck of Big Spring; and one brother, Randale Seratt and wife Kelly of Portland, Oregon; two nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one niece and one nephew.
June Minchew, 76, of Big Spring, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 in a local hospital. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Fireworks, music and an all around good time is what Pops in the Park offered once again.
This year's celebration marked another success for the 15-year tradition held at the Comanche Trail Park Amphitheater. The evening kicked off with former Big Spring resident Don Turner and his Dixieland band taking the stage at 6:30 p.m.
By foot, stroller, pedal and motor power, Highland South's smallest residents showed their their patriotism in colorful ways Wednesday.
The 45th Annual Highland South Fourth of July Parade attracted more than 30 entries this year. That number was down slightly from 2011, but Parade Coordinator Melanie Lawdermilk said the quality of the entries was as strong as ever.
Lawdermilk credited her fellow volunteers with helping make the event a success.

â¢ CHRISTOPHER RYAN COLEGROVE, 20, of 1311 Madison, was arrested Wednesday on charges of evading arrest or detention, disorderly conduct â fighting, failure to appear (eight counts), driving without safety belt secured, criminal mischief â more than $500 and less than $1,500 and a warrant from another agency.
â¢ ANDRES NIETO, 42, of 1901 Hilltop Rd., was arrested Wednesday on a charge of failure to stop and render aid injury/death.
Loyce Ballard, age 79, of Snyder, Texas, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, Texas after a lengthy illness.
Services for Mrs. Ballard will be held Friday, July 6, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Nicky Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Sping under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
