The trial of a 27-year-old Big Spring man charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon ended Wednesday in a mistrial, as the jury announced it was hopelessly deadlocked.
According to officials with the 118th District Court, the jury â which was seated Monday and heard testimony Tuesday and Wednesday â announced it was hung late Wednesday afternoon with 10 jurors voting guilty and two voting not guilty.
Brian Christopher Lewis, 27, currently being held at the Howard County Detention Center, was being tried on a single charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. today:
â¢ JERRY LIN WHITE, 43, of 1200 N. FM 700, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for accumulated items/weeds/rubbish.
â¢ RAY MARTINEZ ALVARADO, 35, of 1500 Lincoln, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of driving while license suspended/invalid with a previous conviction.
â¢ AMBER LYNN JAMES, 21, of 3810 Rice Rd., was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for failure to maintain financial responsibility.
Manuel De Los Rios, 79, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at Hospice of Midland Inpatient Unit. Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel with Elder Eliseo Gamboa officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lamesa Cemetery in Lamesa, Texas, with Trinidad Sanchez officiating.
