As the race to bring alternative water sources online before local reservoirs go dry continues, officials with the Colorado River Municipal Water District say construction of a local reclamation facility is moving along slower than originally hoped.
John Grant, general manager for CRMWD, said the recent boom in the oilfield has made it difficult for the contractors working on the project to hire skilled laborers, a key ingredient for such a complex job.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
• HENRY RAMIREZ, 56, of 4212 Parkway, was arrested Sunday on a charge of public intoxication.
• ROBERT VILLIJOS AGUILAR, 61, of Andrews, Texas, was arrested Monday on a charge of public intoxication.
• STACY JANAE AGUILAR, 20, of 1101 E. 12th St., was arrested Monday on a charge of disorderly conduct – language.
• JAMES THOMAS SMITH, 57, of 704 W. Eighth St., was arrested Monday on a charge of public intoxication.
Heather Anne Atkinson, 32, of Big Spring, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, in Kingfisher, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
Heather was born Feb. 25, 1980, in Odessa, Texas. She lived life to the fullest and loved her children. She moved to Kingfisher, Okla. to be close to them as she battled cancer.
The Rev. Jim Ray Mosley, 77, of Abilene, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Chambers will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Stan Allcorn. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 5701 Highway 277 South. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas.
