Ollie Digby Batte Stallcup, dearly loved mother and step-mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend crossed over into her promised land on January 23, 2012. Her family releases her confidently, knowing that she walked all of her life on a steadfast path with her savior, Jesus.
Kevin Brent Matteson, 51, of Sand Springs passed away over the weekend at his residence. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at 1006 N. Moss Lake Road. A memorial service will be held in Big Spring at Myers & Smith Chapel, 301 E. 24th St., Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, with the Rev. Carroll Kohl officiating. The memorial is open to the public and the family invites all who knew Kevin and the Matteson family to attend.
Kenneth C. Davidson, 76, of Big Spring died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Midland Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Myers & Smith Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born Jan. 5, 1936, in Big Spring, Texas. He lived most of his life in Big Spring. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as a firefighter for more than 32 years for the city. He was a Baptist.

Dorothy M. Kilgore, 83, of El Paso, formerly of Big Spring died Wednesday, Jan. 25, in El Paso. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Clifford R. Howard, 81, of Big Spring died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at his residence. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Howard College baseball is no stranger to national rankings, and this year will be no different if all goes as planned. The “Perfect Game” preseason poll announced Wednesday has the Hawks perched in the No. 1 slot for the 2012 season.
“We are at a point in our program right now where we feel that we should be competing for a shot at the national title every year,” said Britt Smith, head coach and HC athletic director.

New officers and members were installed for the 2012 year of the United Way of Big Spring and Howard County during the organization’s annual meeting Tuesday.
Agencies and board members gathered at Dora Roberts Community Center for a recap of last year’s success and to share what’s in store for the coming year.
