Tommy David Smith, 50, of Venus, Texas, formerly of Ackerly died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at a Fort Worth hospital after illness and injuries sustained in a fall. Services are planned for a later date.
Relief route access focus of public hearing

Design changes on a proposed truck relief route around Big Spring are the focus for a public hearing, set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dora Roberts Community Center.
Specifically, the changes would make the roadway an uncontrolled access highway rather than a controlled access highway.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
â€˘ SAMMEL RAY GRAY, 29, of 1905 Alabama, was arrested Sunday on warrants for possession/consumption of alcoholic beverage in the city park, disorderly conduct â€“ language and resisting arrest, search or transportation.
Opal D. Anglin, 92, of Odessa died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, in Odessa. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Walter McCall officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the Rosewood Chapel.
She was born to Sally Ann Robbins Huff and William Oliver Huff on Feb. 24, 1920, in Stamford, Texas, and married George B. Anglin on July 3, 1935, in Stamford. He preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1992.
Louise Terry, 92, of Big Spring died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Memorial Park with Pastor Bill Ivins, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating.
She was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Columbia Falls, Maine, to Amy and Percy Ingersoll. She grew up in Sour Lake, Texas, and married Elgie Lee Terry on June 5, 1938, in Sour Lake. They were married 72 years and he preceded her in death June 16, 2010.
She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.
William "Pop" King, 92, of Coahoma died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at the Coahoma Church of Christ with Eddy Pitchford officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the funeral home.
Pop was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Loraine, Texas, and married Lucille Moore on April 10, 1947, in Sweetwater. She preceded him in death Jan. 21, 2011.
BIG SPRING â€” The Steers (5-8) put on a thrilling performance Friday in front of a home crowd, going down to the wire in overtime to edge the Stanton Buffaloes (11-2) 44-43.
Big Spring started off strong, scoring 13 unanswered points in the first period, but Stanton's offense started to click during the second quarter and pulled within five points at the half.
STANTON â€” A Lamesa man currently believed to be on the run in Mexico was indicted on a single count of murder Thursday by a Martin County grand jury, one of more than a dozen true bills handed down by the jury.
Jose Americo Garcia, 37, formerly of Lamesa, was indicted on a charge of murder (first-degree felony) for the Aug. 21, 2011, shooting of 32-year-old Anau Rodriguez Villagrana, also of Lamesa.
There were Harleys in place of reindeer, the low-pitched rumble of motorcycles instead of the high-pitched jingle of sleigh bells and with Santa Claus otherwise engaged, Jeremy Klaus donned the famous red suit and became Santa â€śKlaus.â€ť
But make no mistake â€” Christmas came to a dozen Big Spring families Saturday.
For the 21st year, members of the local Cossack Motorcycle Club hopped on their Hogs and spread holiday cheer to needy children and their families as part of their Bikes for Tykes Toy Run.
Gloria Jean Watson, 61, of Big Spring died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Eddy Pitchford officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Gloria was born Aug. 9, 1951, in Loraine, Texas, and married Dennis Watson Nov. 10, 1971, in Snyder. She graduated from Snyder High School and moved to Big Spring in 1991 and worked as coordinating supervisor for West Texas Centers. She loved to read and crochet.
