One Big Spring family woke up Monday morning to what they considered to be an alarming situation — a self-proclaimed “socialist” group touting neo-Nazis propaganda and symbols had left flyers at their home.
According to the local resident — who asked to not be identified to prevent retaliation from the group — discovery of the material was a shock.
Area residents who haven’t paid their property taxes have until the end of the month to ante up their 2012 tabs or face penalties and interest, according to local officials.
Area property owners can avoid the annual last-minute dash to pay their taxes by getting them out of the way early in the month, said former County Tax Assessor Kathy Sayles.
Vernon Permenter, 63, of Big Spring, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at his residence. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. J. B. Shewmake, 78, of McKinney, formerly of Big Spring, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in a McKinney nursing home. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
