Patricia "Patty" Howell, 55, of Big Spring, Texas died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be at p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating.
She was born Sept. 30, 1958, in Miami, Fla. She was a homemaker, a Baptist, and a lifetime resident of Big Spring.
Officials with the Texas Secretary of State's office will be in Big Spring next week to provide help for people needing to obtain a voter identification card.
The Secretary of State, in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety, will set up two mobile stations to help people obtain an Election Identification Certificate free of charge, Howard County Election Administrator Saundra Bloom said.

Add in 30,000 expected visitors over the showâs two-day run, and this town of 2,700 will swell indeed.
Margaret "Peg" Myrick Downing passed away after a short illness in a Bedford hospital on Oct. 5, 2013, at the age of 76.
She moved to Big Spring in 1959 and spent many of her years there as director of St. Mary's Episcopal School. She worked the last 25 years with Anglican Church of America, even serving as secretary to the Bishop of the worldwide church.
She was involved in the creation of her current church parish and was looking forward to obtaining a church building of their own.
Mary Lawdermilk Davidson, 68, of Big Spring, Texas died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.

William A. Belew, 71, of Lamesa, Texas died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, in a Lubbock, Texas hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Stan Blevins, officiating. Interment will follow at Ackerly Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the funeral home.
Bill was born May 24, 1942, in Scranton, Texas and married Martha Smith Jan. 24, 1969 in Lamesa. She preceded him in death Oct. 14, 2003. Bill has been in the water well business for over 35 years.

EL PASO â Three former Big Spring football players were among those honored recently at the 50-year anniversary of the Sun Bowl â the University of Texas at El Paso's venue and also where Jack Ed Irons, Jerry Tucker and Dexter Pate played collegiate football. Except five decades ago, it was known as Texas Western University.
While at Big Spring, the trio were all captains of the football squad. They played baseball together and led what Irons descibed as a very close-knit Steer team back in 1961.
Big Spring State Hospital Superintendent Lorie Dunnam will be formally introduced to the public Thursday during an afternoon reception for hospital employees and invited guests.
The reception will be from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Big Spring State Hospitalâs Allred Building Auditorium. A short recognition ceremony will be at 3:15 p.m.
Texas Department of State Health Services Commissioner Dr. David Lakey named Dunnam the superintendent of Big Spring State Hospital, effective Sept. 1.
