St. Mary's to celebrate St. Andrew's Day

St. Mary's Epsicopal Church will host its 12th Annual St. Andrews Day Celebration this Sunday.
Featured professional performers are Pipers E.J. Jones, Doug Frobese, Richard Kean and drummer Stephen Cameron.
All four musicians have competed on the international level, including at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, on multiple occasions.
At 7 p.m., The bagpipers will enter St. Mary’s playing “Highland Cathedral” and “Amazing Grace” and will play a medley of traditional Scottish tunes as part of the service. The service concludes with a drum solo by Cameron.

Time draws near to register for parade

“It's absolutely free!”
Newly appointed Herald general manager Rick Nunez wants everyone to know there are absolutely no fees to enter the Herald's 28th Annual Christmas Parade.
“We've had more and more entries as we get closer to the deadline,” said Nunez, “But there is still plenty of time to enter and it's free to enter. There are no fees at all.”
“The deadline is Nov. 15, to enter a float to be judged,” Nunez said, “The parade will be held Dec. 7, and we welcome all entries.”

Mark Stiles

Mark Stiles, 81, of Big Spring died Wednesday Nov. 6, 2013, at his residence. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was born Jan. 30, 1932, to Henrietta Ellen (Cheatom) and Opal Gold Stiles in Boliver, Mo. He has been a resident of Howard County for more than 38 years. He was a self-employed painter. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church of God.

Joseph Clifton Woods

Joseph Clifton Woods, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle, and loyal friend, went to be with our Lord on Nov. 2, 2013. Joseph was born on Aug. 30, 1924, in Mercury, Texas, to Victor H. Woods Sr. and Lela Elizabeth Long. He was married to Edith June Lollar on June 19, 1944, in Hooker, Okla.

Air Force Airman Nathaniel S. Mitchell-McCoy graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
 The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
 Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
 Mitchell-McCoy is the son of Sylvia McCoy of Big Spring.
 He is a 2011 graduate of Big Spring High School.
