Glenn Stifflemire, group publisher for the Big Spring Herald and Sweetwater Reporter, is pleased to announce that effective Thursday, Rick Nunez will take on the role of general manager/advertising director at the Herald and will handle day to day management of the paper.
Before this promotion, Nunez served as group advertising director for both newspapers.
He will take on the leadership position in Big Spring that will be vacated by Stifflemire, who will stay on with the company, moving to Northern California to take over a group of newspapers that have recently been purchased.
Judy Price Belcher, 63, of Big Spring,Texas died Saturday, Nov. 02, 2013 in a Lubbock, Texas hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 08, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She was born Dec. 30, 1949 in Rotan, Texas and married Elmer Belcher July 15, 1987 in Coahoma, Texas. He preceded her on death Jan. 5, 1998.
Joseph Clifton Woods, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle, and loyal friend, went to be with our Lord on Nov. 2, 2013. Joseph was born on Aug. 30, 1924, in Mercury, Texas, to Victor H. Woods Sr. and Lela Elizabeth Long. He was married to Edith June Lollar on June 19, 1944, in Hooker, Okla.
Sylvia H. Rodriquez, 57, of Big Spring, Texas, died Sunday, November 3, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at Iglesia Bautista Central, with the Rev. Joe Torres, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
A prayer service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
Sylvia was born, Aug. 15, 1956 in Big Spring and married Juan Rodriguez, Jr. July 18, 1975 in Big Spring.
James Albert Gilbert Sr., 69, of Big Spring, died Monday, November 04, 2013 at his residence.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 07, 2013 in the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. No other services are planned at this time.
James was born April 1, 1944 in Quitaque, Texas, and began working as a tractor mechanic for Driver Implement while he was still in high school. Soon after he started working for Broughton Implement and then several places around the country. In 1992 he opened his own shop where he continued with his love of tractors.
Gilbert Cisneros, 78, of Big Spring, Texas died Saturday Nov. 02, 2013 at his residence. Visitation will be 6: p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday with Vigil services at 7 p.m. at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.Graveside services with military honors will be 3 p.m.. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco.
Shirley Muse, 54, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Big Spring, Texas, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, in Albuquerque. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Olga Godina, 54, of Big Spring, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at her residence. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

The Forsan Band wrapped up its 2013 marching season Monday ,placing a close second at the State University Interscholastic League Class A Marching Contest finals.
In tough competition, the band fell one collective point behind Shiner High School, which was named the state Class A marching champion at the Alamodome in San Antonio. 2011 Class A champ Sundown High School placed third and Shelbyville High School placed fourth. The Class A state marching contest is held biennially.
