ABILENE â€” In what was probably the most exciting game in the state over the weekend, Big Spring came up just short of a major upset over defending state champion Stephenville Friday at Wylie's Bulldog Stadium.
The Steers (9-4) had a two-point lead over the Yellow Jackets (12-1) with 35 seconds to go in the regional playoff game, thanks to a touchdown by junior quarterback Tobyn Tannehill.

Billy Smith, 80, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery, Coahoma.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
He was born Oct. 31, 1933, in Liberty Hill, Texas and married Charlsye Davis July 26, 1958, in Durant, Okla.
Julius "Jim" Ryals, 77, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at Big Spring Full Gospel Fellowship, 309 Benton, with Billy Guy officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born July 13, 1936, in Wilmer, Ala. and married Shirley Ann Clawson Aug. 13, 1966, in Big Spring.
Connie Underwood, 71, of Big Spring, died Thursday Nov. 28, 2013, at his residence. Private family services will be at a later date.
He was born Oct. 14, 1942 in Hamilton, Ala. to Zora and Gracy Underwood. He grew up in Alabama. He was a Baptist and he served in the U.S. Air Force and came to Big Spring in 1961. He was stationed at Webb AFB from 1961 to 1965. After the Air Force, he stayed in Big Spring and worked for Caldwell Electric and later A&B Electric until his retirement.
Alicia Angel Cruz, of Big Spring, infant daughter of Anastacia and Anthony Cruz, died Nov. 27, 2013, at Covenant Lakeside Medical Center in Lubbock. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Ludin A. DeHoyos, 66, of Big Spring, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
Diva 1.5 yr old Female was brought to the rescue and her 8 puppies. Her puppies found homes and now it is time for Diva. She is very playful and is very affectionate. She craves to be praised.
