For the past 27 years, the First Church of the Nazarene's Drive Through Living Nativity has been a part of the Christmas tradition in Big Spring. It began with seven scenes and has grown over the years â with 14 on view this year.
For the people at Spring Tabernacle Ministries, the real joy of the Christmas season is found in giving, rather than receiving, presents.
Spring Tabernacle, located at 1208 Wright St., will hold its 18th annual Christmas gift give-away beginning at 9 a.m. Friday and continuing for as long as toys and other gifts last.
Parents of children ages 2 to 12 may receive up to four gifts per child during the event, Minister Mona Lue Tonn said.
For more information on the give-away, contact Tonn at 263-0544.

BIG SPRING â After a hard-fought matchup, Big Spring fell to Lubbock Monterey 65-59 Tuesday at Steer Gym.
Though it was a loss, BSHS Head Coach Ian Ritchey thought his squad turned in a strong performance.
âI thought we played much better against a very good team from a bigger school,â he said. âIt was only our second game with our whole team and weâre starting to gel and show many signs of good things to come.â
Leading the Steers were Matt Yanez with 13 points, Tavaris Walker with 12 and Tyler Wigington with 11.
Next up for Big Spring will be a tournament in Andrews.
FORSAN â Senior running back Kolby Self was honored Tuesday at Forsan High School with the statewide award âBuilt Ford Tough Texas Player of the Weekâ at the 1A level.

He rushed a season-high 35 times for 313 yards and four TDs, including the game-winning score late in the fourth quarter, in a 38-35 win over Winters.
What we have here is a failure to communicate.
The recent wave of ice storms have done more than just send temperatures plunging and turn roads into skating rinks â it has also done serious damage to Howard Countyâs communication system.
A tower that county agencies â including the sheriffâs office â used was felled during the ice storm that hit this area the week of Thanksgiving, leaving communication with deputies and other emergency responders in certain areas of the county dicey at best.
Yes, Virginia, there will be a Christmas parade.
