Election matters top ISD agenda

Elections will be the main topic of discussion when Big Spring Independent School District trustees hold their regular monthly meeting at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the high school board room.

The board will consider approval of a resolution which would allow trustees to be elected by a simple plurality of votes. Currently, trustees must be elected by a majority of votes, even if that means holding runoff elections.

Council OKs 4-way stop on Stadium

The Big Spring City Council approved first reading of an ordinance that will place a four-way stop at the intersection of Settles and Stadium during its Tuesday night meeting, as well as approved first reading of an ordinance calling for the May 11 municipal elections.

The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. today:
• JAMES DEWAYNE TURNBO, 34, of 807 Wyoming, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of evading arrest or detention and a warrant from another agency.
• LUIS ALEJANDRO RAMOS, 24, of 1606 Cardinal, was arrested Tuesday on warrants for public intoxication, theft and failure to appear (two counts).
• FERMIN FLORES, 62, of 610 N.W. Seventh St., was arrested Tuesday on a warrant from another agency.
