Hughetta Roberts, 89, of Big Spring died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, in a local nursing home. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Adelia Sanchez, 65, of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at her residence. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Marsha Mann, 68, of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, in a Midland hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at the Colorado City Cemetery in Colorado City, Texas, with the Rev. Walter McCall officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the funeral home.
Robert Dean (R.D.) Bradshaw, 79, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, in Midland, Texas. He was born June 23, 1933, in Childress County, Texas.
R.D. grew up in Childress, Texas, and graduated from Childress High School. While in high school, R.D. played both basketball and football for the Childress Bobcats. After the 1951 Bobcat football season, R.D. was designated as a High School All American Football Player.
The state of Texas has filed a lawsuit against the owners of Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas Veterans Home, charging the facility with violating minimum nursing home standards and threatening the health and safety of its residents.
The suit, brought by Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott on behalf of the state Department of Aging and Disability Services, was filed in 118th District Court last week against Sears Methodist Retirement System Inc. and Senior Dimensions Inc., owners of the veterans' home.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. today:
â€¢ MIGUEL ANGEL REYES JR., 34, of 1519 Tucson, was arrested Sunday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€¢ EMMETT WAYNE RASH, 37, of Granbury, Texas, was arrested Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated â€“ second offense.
â€¢ ALFONSO VARGAS, 23, of 3604 Hamilton, was arrested Sunday on a warrant for no driver's license â€“ when unlicensed.
â€¢ EAMON SEAN DALEY, 20, of Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested Sunday on a charge of consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Three Lady Steers â€” senior Logan Yarbar (First Team), junior Dyrshae Vanderbilt and sophomore Julianna Rodriguez (Second Team) â€” were selected to represent Big Spring by being named to the All-District squad for their work on the basketball court this season.
The Lady Steers had an overall record of 16-16 and finished at .500 in a competitive division, but fell just short of a postseason appearance after losing to Sweetwater in a game to determine the third and final playoff seed.
