FORSAN â€” School trustees here unanimously voted Monday evening to send a $23.8 million construction bond issue to voters in May.
After several months of study, Forsan Independent School District officials decided to move forward with a proposal that, pending voter approval, will finance a new elementary school and several renovations at the secondary campus and other facilities.
Items to be financed by the bond package include:
An educational and fun workshop is being offered to area children by Hangar 25 Air Museum.
Children age 5 through 12 are invited to attend the Saturday, March 16, event, titled â€śWhen Worst Comes to War: Korea and Vietnam at Webb AFB.â€ť
â€śIt is a wonderful educational opportunity for kids to learn about the Korean and Vietnam wars,â€ť said Genevieve Stockburger, museum administrator. â€śWebb AFB was in operation during both of these conflicts and many pilots who served there found themselves fighting in these arenas.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. today:
â€˘ THOMAS OLIVER BRADBERRY, 45, of 2705 Ann Dr., was arrested Monday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€˘ DEBRA LYNN KNOTT, 51, of 106 E. 22nd St., was arrested Monday on a charge of public intoxication.
â€˘ AARON SCOTT LANGFORD, 31, of 2506 Gunter, was arrested Monday on warrants for failure to maintain financial responsibility, driving while license invalid (two counts) and open container in a motor vehicle â€“ passenger.
Bernard J. Glanister, 54 of Las Vegas, Nev., and Lake Orion, Mich., died Feb. 21, 2013.
He was the beloved husband of Linda (Nee Zaleski) and loving father of Nathan James, Sarah Marie and Amy Lynne. He was the dear son of Filomena (Nee Lopez) and the late Bernard and brother of Donna (Roy) Collins, Kenneth, Ellen (Glen) Carlson, Eugene Michael (Francis) and Bonnie (Charles) Miller. He was also the son-in-law of Chester and Joann Zaleski and will be missed by many loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Adelia Sanchez, 65, of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
She was born Oct. 22, 1947, in Austin. She moved from Austin to Seminole in 1973 and to Big Spring in 1980. She was a homemaker, but also worked at Walls Industries until it closed. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Johnny Rueda, 56, of Big Spring died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Hughetta Roberts, 89, of Big Spring died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, in a local nursing home. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Adelia Sanchez, 65, of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at her residence. Services are pending at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Marsha Mann, 68, of Big Spring died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, in a Midland hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at the Colorado City Cemetery in Colorado City, Texas, with the Rev. Walter McCall officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the funeral home.
Robert Dean (R.D.) Bradshaw, 79, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, in Midland, Texas. He was born June 23, 1933, in Childress County, Texas.
R.D. grew up in Childress, Texas, and graduated from Childress High School. While in high school, R.D. played both basketball and football for the Childress Bobcats. After the 1951 Bobcat football season, R.D. was designated as a High School All American Football Player.
