Howard County commissioners will meet Monday morning to discuss a number of routine items, including an amendment to the inter-local agreement between the county and the city of Big Spring for overages in the recent construction of joint law enforcement center.
Commissioners are expected to consider an agreement with the city of Big Spring that will call for the municipality to cover half of the $110,000 in overages the project incurred during the construction of the Troy M. Hogue Joint Law Enforcement Center.
LUBBOCK â Two down, one to go. The Hawks started off strong in the semifinal round of the NJCAA Region V tournament Friday at the Rip Griffin Center against conference foe Odessa College â who Howard dispatched twice already this season â but the Wranglers battled back to give the Hawks a scare before a strong second half showing by the seven-foot Goran Huskic, who keyed the Hawks' 71-56 win.
The Ninth Annual Hoops Dreams and Goals 2013 competition is set for March 22 at the Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.

â˘ GUS WAYNE JACOBS, 55, 3111 S. Anderson Road, was arrested on a warrant from another agency.
â˘ ALEXIS NICOLE PARKS, 17, 3228 Cornell, was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.
â˘ DONTAE RENELL CARR, 31, 3006 Cherokee, was arrested on charges of failure to give identifying information and possession of marijuana.
â˘ AVEL ABREO RAMIREZ, 68, 1512 Wood, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
David "Shorty" Barr, died at his home in Vincent, Texas, Thursday, March 7, 2013. Funeral services will be at Vincent Baptist Church Monday, March 11, 2013, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Walter McCall, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Vincent Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Arnulfo âShortyâ Hernandez, 63, of Coahoma died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Coahoma Cemetery.
Wayne Henry, 74, of Big Spring died Saturday, March 9, 2013. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
