While Howard College officials are disappointed in not receiving more state money this year, they are celebrating a new funding process they believe will stabilize funding for the institution.
Barring a last-minute change of heart from Gov. Rick Perry, state appropriations to the Howard County Junior College District will remain roughly the same as last year.
Anyone over the age of 50 would probably look back on the idea of having to attend summer school and shiver â€” and, to be honest, no student of any era relishes the idea of attending classes when everyone else is goofing off â€” but the focus of summer classes has changed significantly over the years.
The Big Spring Police Department reported the following activity:
â€¢ VICTOR RAYMOND DOMINGUEZ, 37, 1425 E. Sixth No. 19, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
â€¢ PEDRO RIVERA APONTE, 54, 1305 Nolan, was arrested on warrants for expired motor vehicle inspection certificate, failure to control speed, two counts of failure to appear and a warrant from another agency.
â€¢ JENNIFER DEANN CATE, 30, Forsan, was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
â€¢ JOSHUA NATHANIEL MILLER, 36, 2623 Hunter, was arrested on a warrant from another agency.
Gary Lynn Goswick, 58, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park Cemetery in Big Spring, Texas.
Gary was born on Aug. 14, 1954, to Una and Lester Goswick in Big Spring. He married Gina on April 14, 1993, in Midland.
