Beginning Aug. 1, commercial entities which have previously dumped their oilfield, construction or demolition waste at the municipal landfill will be turned away, according to officials with the city of Big Spring.
Public Works Director Johnny Womack made the announcement this week, part of an effort by the city administration to limit the amount of waste being brought into the facility, which is quickly reaching the end of its lifespan.
John Law will be a constant presence at Forsan and Coahoma school campuses starting this August.
Concerns about student and staff safety have reached new heights in the wake of school shootings across the country in recent months. While some Texas school districts are debating options such as arming teachers, both Coahoma and Forsan have instead chosen to go with a permanent law enforcement presence at their campuses.
Rodney "Roddy" Robertson Sr., 58, of Big Spring died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Alan McGuire, the Rev. Gary Smith and the Rev. Calvary Callender officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 23, 1954, in Big Spring, Texas, and married Lynn Doss on March 24, 1978, in Big Spring.
Corbett Jon Hardgrave, infant son of Lucas and Jennifer Hardgrave of Knott, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, in a Midland hospital. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
