If it seems like the skies above Big Spring are busier than usual, it's not your imagination, as the 2013 U.S. National Hang Gliding Championship continues at the McMahon-Wrinkle Airpark.
According to U.S. National Hang Gliding organizer Belinda Boulter, with just two days under the pilots' belts, the championship is shaping up to be an amazing time for all involved.
The following areas will be closed for crosswalk painting from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday:
â€¢ Birdwell Lane, from Harvard to Stadium.
â€¢ The intersection of Mt. Vernon and Washington streets.
All traffic will be detoured during this time period.

CLYDE â€” Kelly Suzanne Barnes McElyea died at the age of 51 on Aug. 3, 2013, of cervical cancer at her home in Clyde, Texas.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at Sweet Fellowship Church of God In Christ, 2106 Shellhorse Rd., Dallas, Texas 75241.
Kelly was born Feb. 11, 1962, in Big Spring, Texas. She attended school in El Paso, Texas, and moved to Duncanville, Texas, in 1977. She lived in Arkansas with her sons from her first marriage and her youngest son was born in Arkansas.
Manuel Cervantes, 61, of Big Spring died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
He was born Aug. 5, 1951, in Big Spring, Texas, and married Margaret Resendez on June 18, 1983, in Fort Davis, Texas.
Jowili "Mama Jo" Taylor Etchison went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born in Kiowa County, Okla., on Dec. 26, 1919, to Clyde and Joe Emma Clare Taylor. They moved to Littlefield, Texas, when she was 12 years old.
