Martha Jane Lloyd, 90, of Big Spring, died Thursday Nov. 21, 2013, at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery in Stamford, Texas, with Michael Orsini of Trinity Baptist Church of Strawn, Texas, officiating.
A Big Spring man with a history of breaking the law has been arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and posession of cocaine, thanks to a Crimestoppers tip.
More charges could be filed against the man, 25-year-old Jason Scott Edwards of Big Spring.
Police said the clue through Crimestoppers led them to monitor activity at an apartment in the Park Village Apartments around 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

Big Spring resident Shannon Thomason has filed for a place on the ballot in the March 4 Republcan Primary to represent the people of the 72nd District in the Texas House of Representatives.
Thomason, a corporate pilot for an oilfield manufacturing company, has a long history of grassroots activisim in Big Spring and Howard County.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Derek A. Nix graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Nix is the son of Cynthia Diaz of San Angelo, and Randy Nix of Big Spring.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Midway Baptist Church, Big Spring with the Rev. Jim Binix, officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery, Coahoma, Texas. She was born May 23, 1926, in Eastland County, Texas, and married William T. â€śBillâ€ť Childers Dec. 24, 1943, in Gorman, Texas. He preceded her in death April 14, 1996.

ABILENE, Texas â€” Matthew Castaneda, the Big Spring police officer arrested on a federal indictment earlier this week, is accused of bringing contraband to an inmate while he was employed by GEO group.
Castaneda, 23, of Big Spring was taken into custody was arrested after a federal grand jury returned an indictment last week, charging him with one count of bribery of public officials.
