Local Salvation Army officials are gearing up for their annual Angel Tree drive.
The campaign, which encourages residents to give clothing and toys to children of low-income during the holiday season, will begin when the SA starts accepting applications Monday.
Ada Lafler of the local SA said the agency will accept applications from qualifying families at the local headquarters, located at 811 W. Fifth.
Application hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. through the week.

WEATHERFORD -â€” Wayne McNew, 82, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013.
Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Wayne was born July 25, 1931, in Seminole to Alma and Thomas McNew. He was a lifetime member of Lakeside Church of God. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Hughey McNew.
Mary Virginia Womack, 88, of Coahoma, jumped into the arms of Jesus September 30, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Monroe Teeters officiating. Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at the funeral home.
Guadalupe P. "Lupe" Gomez, 78, of Big Spring, Texas died Wednesday, Oct. 02, 2013, at his residence. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ackerly Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 14, 1934, at Sinton, Texas to Miqaela and Antonio Gomez. He lived most of his life in Ackerly moving to Big Spring 15 years ago. He farmed all of his life in the Ackerly area, retiring in 2000. He was a Baptist.
Katy Hise, 95, of Big Spring, Texas died Wednesday, Oct. 02, 2013. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born Dec. 7, 1917, in Brown County, Texas to Virginia and John Griffith. She had been a resident of Big Spring since 1959, moving from Andrews County. She was employed by Howard County for a number of years as director of the county's welfare program. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
Pauline Schuelke, 94, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 in a Lubbock Hospital. Her services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Eleven Big Spring High School students received all-region accolades during tryouts this weekend in Odessa.
Nine BSHS students were named to the all-region choir outright, while two others were selected as alternates.
The all-region qualifiers are: Toby Shubert, Cory Hilario, David Juarez, Hannah Morgan, Micaiah Rodgers, Brycen Kiker, Roy Gomez, Michael Matthews and Donovan Clark. Aron Rios and Kate Sorton were selected as alternates to the choir.
