Esther Haggard, 94, of Stanton, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, in a Midland hospital. Her services are pending with Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
Charles D. Herring, Jr., 96, of Big Spring, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at his residence. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
Brenda Canada, 68, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, in a local hospital. Memorial services will be scheduled at later date.
Brenda was born Oct. 17, 1944, in Alexander City, Ala., and came to Texas in 1985.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Lord of Lubbock; four granddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Little Ray Henry and Jimmy Dale Henry, both of Montgomery, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gurtis and Irene (Hayes) Henry; two sisters, Helen Henry and Sheila Henry; two brothers, James Henry and Big Ray Henry; and one great-grandson..
Martha Pearl Cooley Miller, age 76, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, after a long illness. Pearl was born in Anson, Jones County, Texas, Feb. 22, 1937, to Earl Leo and Izora Mae (Moore) Cooley. She was the only girl of four children, with two older brothers: Charles Stanford and Joe Earl, and one younger brother, Burl Leo, all of whom survive her.
Scenic Mountain Medical Center and Family Medical Center Orthopedic Department has announced the arrival of Orthopedic Surgeon Darrell Franks M.D.
Dr. Franks joins the FMC family after 20 years of private practice in Lubbock.

Thanks to a donation which will bring millions of dollars into its coffers, the Big Spring Community Foundation's future just took a turn for the brighter.
President Drew Mouton announced Thursday the foundation has been named beneficiary of a trust fund established by the A.K. Guthrie estate. The fund is expected to bring between $15 million and $20 million to the foundation during the next 20 years.
