Howard County property owners apparently won't be in for as big an increase in their tax bills as originally feared.
During a budget work session Monday, county commissioners decided to back away from a 6-cent increase for the upcoming fiscal year.
Instead, consensus was reached of going with the âeffectiveâ tax rate of 36 cents per $100 valuation, which would raise the same amount of revenue as last year. That figure would still represent a 3-cent increase over the current rate, officials said.
