George C. Franklin, 83, of Big Spring died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at his residence. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Dennis Teeters officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
Bobby Joe Capps, 69, of Coahoma died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coahoma Church of Christ with Eddy Pitchford officiating.
He was born June 10, 1944, to Faye and Babe Capps in Groesbeck, Texas. He married Frances Allen on Aug. 30, 1962, in Sand Springs. He was a resident of Howard County for more than 50 years. He was a pumper for Walsh and Watts for 35 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of Coahoma Church of Christ.
Angela Rodriguez, 90, of Big Spring died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at her residence. Services are pending with Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Gwyn Dunnam, 67, of Big Spring died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab. Services are pending with Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Big Spring Symphony has been making beautiful music for more than three decades and the tradition continues with a new season starting in September.
â€śWe Like the Big Symphonyâ€ť is the theme for the series, which opens Sept. 21.
The symphony, which varies between 50 and 60 players and includes a chorus depending on the program, offers four subscription concerts each year, as well as performing during the Pops in the Park patriotic music and fireworks extravaganza on July 3 at the Comanche Trail Park Amphitheater.
Dr. Keith Graumann is artistic director and conductor for the symphony.

FORSAN â€” The first day of classes is still more than a month away, but officials at Forsan Independent School District are gearing up for a new school year.
New student registration has begun at Elbow Elementary and will continue through the first day of school Aug. 26.
Parents of elementary (grades pre-kindergarten through 5) students new to FISD will need to bring the following information to the campus, located at 5001 Nichols Road, when they register their children:

â€˘ The child's Social Security card.
â€˘ The child's immunization record.
Horace "Hoss" Rankin, 84, of Big Spring died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Matt Farmer officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Kimble, Texas, and married LaRue Browne on Aug. 26, 1950, in Odessa, Texas. She preceded him in death April 25, 2004.
Mildred Louise Collum, 91, died July 12, 2013, in Big Spring. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel in Pampa with the Rev. Barry Owens, associate pastor, officiating. Private burial will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.
Memorial services will be held for Carol Ann Gum, 72, of Roswell, N.M., at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wayne Griffin of 2nd Baptist Church in Amarillo officiating. Carol Ann passed away July 22, 2013.
Carol Ann was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Big Spring, Texas, to Robert and Theresa Virginia (Garrison) Wilson. Carol Ann was a very sincere, loving and dedicated mother and wife. She was active in both her church and the Red Hat Society.
