Carol Ruth Thomason, 51, of Big Spring, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at her residence. No services will be held.
She was born Aug. 25, 1961, in San Antonio, Texas.
Survivors include her father and step-mother, James and Carolyn Thomason of Hemphill, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Thomason, and her sister.

Kathryn K. "Kathy" Stewart, 63, of Stanton died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, in a Stanton nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel, Stanton, with the Rev. Mike Harris, officiating.
She was born Aug. 25, 1949, in Stanton and lived in Martin County all her life, growing up in the Courtney community. She attended school at Courtney and Stanton, graduating from Stanton High School in 1967. She worked at Met Life and Custom Benefits until her retirement in 2011.
Manuel Cervantes, 61, of Big Spring, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 in a local hospital. His services are pending with Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
An early morning house fire Saturday claimed the life of a Big Spring man.
Big Spring Fire Department units were called to the 200 block of N.E. Sixth to battle the fire at about 5 a.m. Saturday, according to information released from BSFD Chief Craig Ferguson.
When firefighters arrived, they found house engulfed in flames, Ferguson said.
Rescue crews made entry into the house and found Manuel Cervantes, 61, still inside. They then pulled Cervantes from the building and transported him to Scenic Mountain Medical Center's emergency room.
It's a bird, it's a plane it's â€¦ a hang glider?
It may sound a bit strange â€” especially along the West Texas skyline â€” but it's likely the case, as the 2013 U.S. National Hang Gliding Championship prepare to get under way Sunday at the McMahon-Wrinkle Airpark.
Marking the 11th year in a row the championship has been held in the Crossroads area, more than 40 hang glider pilots from all across the nation â€” as well as the world â€” are expected to take to the skies for the week-long event.

After a year's absence, Tana Kennemur, owner of The Bookworm, can put all the rumors to rest. The used store is once again open for business.
â€śThere were a lot of rumors,â€ť explained Kennemur, â€śBut for personal and health reasons I had to close for awhile.â€ť
Being away has given Kennemur a fresh outlook and renewed optimism about the store's future. Plans for changes are already in the works.
â€śI'm cleaning up and throwing out,â€ť Kennemur said. Room for new books and an expanded Western section are among her many plans.

The Friends of the library annual book sale is just around the corner and books are needed.
â€śWe need books,â€ť said Joann Staulcup of the Friends of the Library. â€śThe book sale is coming up in September and we need donations.â€ť
Although books of any genre or subject are welcome, the non-profit group are particular when it comes to certain aspects of the books they will take.

Laura Moore and Donnie Barber, both of Big Spring were wed at 4:30 p.m., June 15, 2013, at Prairie View Baptist Church in Big Spring.
A reception followed in the fellowship hall of Prairie View Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Johnny and Debbie Moore of Big Spring, Texas and the granddaughter of John and Melba Webb of Stanton and the late Don and Shirley Brashears. Laura is a third grade teacher at Washington Elementary, Big Spring ISD.
Tamara Jean Nichols of Midland, Texas, formerly of Ackerly and Tom Kiser Pitts of Midland, Texas, formerly of Levelland will exchange wedding vows at 7 p.m. Aug. 31, 2013, at Spirit Ranch in Lubbock, Texas.
The bride is the daughter of Terry and Dorothy Nichols of Big Spring, Texas and the granddaughter of the late Elvin and Norma Jean Nichols, Ackerly, Texas and the late Johnny and Reba Russworm of Lampasas, Texas.
The bride is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in interior design.
