Zachary Hank Williamson, 28, of Big Spring died Monday, July 8, 2013, in a local hospital. Graveside services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Vealmoor Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 22, 1984, in Big Spring, Texas.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Kelly and Joe Zant Jr. of Vealmoor; grandmother, Sandra Williamson of Big Spring; three brothers, Seth Williamson, Zane Williamson and Skyler Williamson, all of Vealmoor; a sister, Kimberly Meegan and husband Jim of Fort Polk, La.; and a stepbrother, Jake Zant and wife Steph of Moore, Okla.
J. Dudley Cotz, 63, of Big Spring died Saturday, July 6, 2013, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Bacon officiating.
J. Dudley was born June 2, 1950, in Tucson, Ariz., to Delight Carrie Evans Cotz and Melvin Clyde Cotz and married Darlene Bursch on May 11, 1998, in Kermit, Texas. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1973. After his tour in the Navy he worked in the oilfield and Carlsbad potash mines. He also worked in law enforcement.
Big Spring City Council will meet Tuesday to consider a number of issues, including a second attempt at electing a mayor pro-tem.
The council first attempted to elect a mayor pro-tem â€” a council member designated to stand-in for the mayor when necessary â€” during its June 25 meeting, with District 1 Councilman Marcus Fernandez absent.
Fernandez and newly elected District 5 Councilman Raul Benavides were both nominated for the position, however, a vote yielded a tie vote of three ballots per nominee. Mayor Larry McLellan called for the election to be postponed until Tuesday night's meeting.

That's the theme for the 80th annual Old Settler's Reunion, which will be held Saturday in downtown Stanton.
Then and Now is a fitting theme, organizers say.

CHILDRESS â€” Every Big Spring Senior League All-Star picked up at least one hit and one RBI Saturday as they competed in the 15-16-year-old sectional finals, a best-of-three series against the hometown Childress All-Stars.

Robert Lee Park, 16, of Big Spring, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, in a local hospital due to Duschenne Muscular Dystrophy. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
Robert was born Sept. 16, 1996, in Big Spring, Texas.
Survivors include his parents, Bruce and Josette Park of Big Spring; one sister, Rosie Park of Big Spring; one brother, Chris Park of Dallas; his grandfather, John Park; and his aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
