Boyd Anderson, 91, of Big Spring died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
COAHOMA â€” Preparations for this year's Freedom Day festivities are just about complete, organizers said.
Coahoma's Freedom Parade, featuring floats, cars and tractors festooned in their red, white and blue best, will make its way down First Street beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday
The parade will start at the Coahoma High School football stadium and proceed south on First, east on the north service road, then north on Sixth Street before ending at the city park.
Benny G. Frasier, 71, of Big Spring died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Midland Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eastland Cemetery in Eastland, Texas.
Benny was born Oct. 24, 1941, in Gorman, Texas, to Carrie and P.C. Frasier. He married Barbara Cook on Jan. 20, 1961, in Olden, Texas. They moved to Big Spring in 1990 from El Dorado, Texas. He worked for Texaco from 1966 until 2001. He was a Baptist.
Mary Lou Edens, 81, of Coahoma died Friday, June 28, 2013, at her daughters residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Rev. Joey Bacon officiating. Interment will follow at the 7 E Cemetery in Howard County.
She was born Oct. 5, 1931, in Howard County, Texas, and married Jewell "Son" Edens in 1946 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death April 19, 2008.
Magdalen "Maggie" Carter, 81, of Big Spring died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home, followed by a vigil service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
Herbert Lee Armstrong, 69, of Midland died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Belvue Church of Christ in Stanton with Bill Welch officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.
He was born to Willie Dee Armstrong Jr. and Edna Ruth on Nov. 1, 1943, in Comanche, Texas, and married Alice Fay McNew on Dec. 11, 1964, in Stanton, Texas.

Not only did the Big Spring Senior League All-Stars win the District 3 All-Star Tournament after a 13-8 victory over Midland High on Saturday at Steer Park, they went undefeated against the best lineups in the region throughout the week.
Trevor Williams started on the mound for Big Spring in the championship game, with the offense quickly racking up three runs to back him up. Gary Watkins came in to relieve Williams when a run was walked in during the top of the third, but Midland got to Watkins as well and took a 4-3 lead.
Cadet John Lang, son of Mark and Kathy Lang of Orlando, Fla., graduated from the U.S. Military Academy May 25. He is the grandson of Bob and Peg Lang of Orlando, Fla., and of the late John Birdwell and Betty Birdwell of Big Spring, Texas.
Lang graduated from Boone High School in Orlando in 2009. While at West Point he concentrated his studies in sociology. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the infantry branch and will report to Fort Drum, New York, for his first assignment.
Kimberly Nalley of Big Spring and Bruce Finch of Lubbock, Texas will exchange wedding vows July 27, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas.
Kimberly is the daughter of John and Lynda Nalley and Belle and Bruce Schooler, all of Big Spring. She is a 2011 graduate of SWCID and is employed as office manager at Cornerstone Covenant Church.
Bruce is the son of Robert and the late Patsy Finch of Hart, Texas. He is a 2010 graduate of Wayland Baptist University and is a teacher at Slaton ISD.
